Short-Term Acccomodation
Short-term accommodation is the integration of self-care support, accommodation, food and activities in a centre or group residence for short periods. Short-term accommodation provides overnight respite for participants and carers in an environment where participants can build independent living skills and participate in group activities and outings. Short-term accommodation providers provide support by:

Application of living skills such as meal preparation, domestic responsibilities and shopping

Goals of Short-term Accommodation

Provides short breaks from everyday home environments

Sustain a participant’s informal support networks

Maintain a carer’s circumstances and ongoing provision of support to the participant

Provide a safe, fun, supported and inclusive environment for participants to try new activities, make friends and to build independent living skills

Encouragement participants to join in outings and have a go at new activities
-
Allow participants to hang out with like-minded people and meet new friends
-
Assist participant’s to build independence and social participation.

Short term accommodation provides all expenses in 24 hour periods. The NDIS deems it reasonable and necessary to fund up to 14 consecutive days of respite. After 14 consecutive days, weekly rates apply.

Castlereagh House is an individualised community participation program. It is a large home set on 1.5 acres which allows for multiple opportunities to develop daily living skills in a safe and everyday environment. Castlereagh House has:

Erschol Park Respite

So when our Eschol Park Respite site received grant funding to enhance their outdoor space for the benefit of clients, the team quickly got to work to create a sensational outdoor area for those who attend the service.
