Mobility Training

Orientation & Mobility Training are specialised programs that provide one-on-one support teach skills to help those with vision impaired people. Orientation and mobility focuses on increasing skills to navigate the community such as:

  • Road crossing strategies

  • Use of public transport

  • Minimise fall risks

  • Utilising canes

  • Utilising electric aids

  • Using GPS Systems

Guide Dog Mobility training provide orientation & Mobility training:

  • Get around the community safely with a Guide Dog (i.e. go to the shops, travel to work, attend restaurants, sports events or movies and more).

  • Maximise independence and confidence when moving through busy public places

  • Increasing opportunities to get social and spend more time with others

  • Travelling to destinations more efficiently

  • Developing a genuine bond and enjoy true companionship.

Mobility Training

The Orientation and Mobility Association of Australiasia (OMMA)

OMAA - is the formal professional body for Orientation and Mobility Specialists in Australia, New Zealand and across all the island nations of the South Pacific region. OMAA aims  to:

  • Maintain appropriate standards of practice and training,

  • Provide professional development through peer meetings and more formal seminars and conferences

  • Promote O&M as a profession

  • Provide representation for Orientation and Mobility professionals on professional issues, and to

  • Publish information about and for the profession.
