Up River

I’ve been traveling up a river back to the source

Recovery from addiction and poor mental health is worth

The placidness and tranquility of the lake at the top

Where from there to the mountain peak is just a hop

The journey upstream is not as easy as the walk

It’s a harder expedition from the sea and I can talk

Of all the problems I encountered along the way

Though every now and again I’d stop and rest for a day

There were plenty of places to camp at night

But the bed was rough and then it was first light

It was gruesome but with many highlights

I’d do it again but can’t because I have the insights

Now when the wind gently rocks the boat

It’s not a large wave no capsizing but staying afloat

For I’m sitting in the boat on a lake far from the sea

Not riding large swells just a gentle breeze and tranquility

And now I’m at the source the lake I will have some fun

Meditate hop to the mountain top then jump into the sun
